Opening Cerimony of the Congress
During the opening ceremony that took place in the 14th of November 2003, the Banda of APPDA, musicians with autism and the singer Paula Teixeira, interpreter of Sign Language played and sang for the audience.


Art Exhibition "Another Perspective"
A 3rd International Exhibition with 170 different techniques art works made by persons with autism coming from 14 countries.
"Another perspective" led us to a different way of seeing the world and showed a positive image of autism. The works that were shown have an added value due to their uniqueness, originality and authenticity that are not influenced by fashions or formalism.
The Art Exhibition "Another Perspective" opened at 18.30h of the 14th November at the Museum of the City and stayed open until the 23rd of November 2003. The opening session had been chaired by Dr.Ana Cristina Leite, Director of the Museums and Palaces of Lisbon. The exhibition had been presented by Prof.sculptor Lagoa Henriques followed by a conference by painter Laura Esteban: "Image, autism and its visual identity".
Organised by the association Autismo Burgos, it had been visited by a large population that voted the best drawing.

Congress Gala Dinner
Saturday 15th November, at 20,30 hours a Gala dinner took place at Estufa Fria in Parque Eduardo VII.
The dinner had the presence of 200 delegates and guests. The Banda of APPDA and the choir Da Capo entertained the audience during dinner and were much appreciated.
The musicians that play in the Banda are persons with autism and the Maestro is Rui Pais, their teacher. In that special night they had the collaboration of two young blind musicians who played harmonica.

Visit to the city
The visit to Lisbon took place Sunday afternoon, 16th November, 2003. The delegates visited Lisbon. The bus started from the Congress centre and the visitors went to Terreiro do Paço then to Saint George's Castle and they went for a stroll in Alfama, the old part of Lisbon. Back to the Congress Centre, the bus passed by Rossio, Avenue of Liberdade, Marquês de Pombal Square and Belém.
